Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and may close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the subsequent requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a house having a combined gross family income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined family revenue does not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the proper Id Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are learning or intend to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply nsfas status for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
